Reif für die Insel

With only three hours left to takeoff the excitement is at a high level. The most important things are already in the bag: sunglasses and many good books. Tomorrow at the same time I'll probably be sitting next to a glistening blue swimming pool, listening to the relaxing sound of the water, maybe enjoying a cold drink and having a big smile on my face :-)

Beach season

Beach season has started in Berlin. Although it's early in the year the weather can hardly get better. Time to visit the probably most centrally located city beach in Europe...

Look in the mirror

I like the new fashion in architecture to create house fronts as a mirror. So it changes the look depending on the viewpoint, the weather and the daylight.

And sometimes it just copies the house on the other side of the river...

Easter Weekend

Here are some impressions from the Easter weekend in Berlin. Unfortunately the sky was more grey than blue most of the time.

Berlin Half-Marathon

On Sunday, April 1st, I participated in the Berlin half-marathon. It was a beautiful day, perfect for serious running. So I and about 23.000 others started for a circuit along some of the best spots in Berlin. We started in the street Unter den Linden, passed the Brandenburger Tor, then the Charlottenburg palace and returned along the Kurfürstendamm and the Potsdamer Platz. The finish line was just in front of the Berliner Dom.
Even though I didn't practiced very well I was faster than in San Francisco and pretty happy with my performance. But to tell the truth: the best thing about running is the hot shower afterwards...

The miracle of spring - part two

I wonder who originally created the design of these blossoms? He or she did a great job! Made from nothing but rain water and some chemicals it looks at least equally beautiful as man-made art. Simply amazing...



The color green is back in the streets of Berlin...finally.
