Lanzarote sun

Sunset on Lanzarote..or was it sunrise, don't remember...anyway beautiful colors of the mediterranean sun. Wish I could be there now, get away from the never ending snow and ice...just drop down on on of these beach chairs...dressed only in shorts and sunglasses..

Cafe with a view

A forgotten picture I discovered on one of the memory cards, taken with the small Ixus two years ago in the Italian Alps. I like the mood of it. It was a cloudy day, that caused different light conditions in the different layers of the photo.
It's another addition to my sort of collection of coffee bars with a view... Even if I had no coffee but a hearty meal there, fried potatoes with bacon and eggs, a Tyrol signature dish.

Winter Winter

Berlin experiences the coldest winter since many years. Snow and ice everywhere...haven't seen so many people sledding and skiing in this city in my whole life...sleds are sold out in the shops.
Seemingly one of the hottest winter sports hot spots of Berlin is near the Kreuzberg. When I came across I was wondering whether the Winter Olympics have been started already here... Others, who were too late to get a sled for themselves, just wonder where the Global Warming is when one needs it :-)

Happy New Year

There was no white Christmas here, the snow came later, in the final week of 2009. Suddenly there was a winter wonderland in Berlin. The cars got cold white hoods thrown over, which were nibbled by passing people to get snow for snowballs... One of them is my poor car, naturally the one with the most snow :-)Fresh white snow makes everything look bright and clean, I like that...As I learned there aren't many countries where individual fireworks are allowed, well, in Germany it is. And so, reaching the final minute of 2009, Berlin exploded as usual. As I heard the number of houses set on fire was slightly lower than last year...though only due to the snow.

Day and night

One of the small cafes with a view at the ocean, a good spot to spend the late and still hot afternoons at Lanzarote.Well, real Italians don't drink cappucino late in the day, that's what I heard......but who cares :-)
It is important to drink regularly in such hot environment :-)
Amazing night sky over the island, there's almost no dust cloud. Sort of hypnotic to look at these millions of stars...
The island racer had to sleep outside, between fields of cacti and in a cooling breeze from the Atlantic ocean, bringing the low sounds of the waves hitting the coast rocks in the distance.
