The train station Griebnitzsee south of Berlin was built back in 1874. It was closed to the public from 1961 to 1989 because during this time it was surrounded by the wall and served as a border checkpoint for trains between East-Germany and West-Berlin. The East-German border police used trained dogs to scan the west-bound trains for fugitives.
Now it is only a small but lovely station with an open air restaurant (Biergarten) in front of it. One thing from the good old past before the wall is the sign Erfrischungshalle (refreshment hall) which is a wording nobody uses since about 50 years...
And what is sold at the Erfrischungshalle? Refreshments (Erfrischungen)...naturally. (google maps)
