Friday after school I took the ferry to TST once more. Weather was perfect, as every day. :-)
In TST I headed for the i-Square mall. Plan was to watch the new movie 'Gravity' in 3D in the IMAX cinema. I had time left so I explored the neighborhood.
A remarkable sight was the Chunking Mansions, one of the probably cheapest stays in HK. It has a rich history and is famous for the diversity of it's inhabitants and the import/export business which runs through here. One scientist calculated that 20% of the mobile phones used in the southern part of Africa were sold in Chunkung Mansions.
Almost directly across the street is one of the most expensive and certainly the most famous hotel of HK, The Peninsula. Lots of Rolls Royce in the parking lot and a heli pad on the roof, it is exactly the opposite of Chunking Mansions.
Then to the cinema. The movie was probably the most stylish movie I've ever seen and certainly the one with the best picture quality. The 3D in the IMAX was so real, I've never experienced something similar before. Liked the story as well.
Awesome!
Then back outside into the nightly Tsim Sha Tsui. Picture through the window of the mall..
..and one of the escalators inside.
One more view on Chunking Mansions...and some other street views.
Since I was already in TST I decided to watch the light show once more...still had time though.
So it was the Harbour City mall first. There was some model contest in it's final moments.
The TST waterfront promenade was crowded as on every evening about 8pm. The light show was again a very impressive moment, I guess I'm going to see it many more times, can't get enough of it.
Because it was already late I chose some street food for dinner, here the soup. The chunky parts are probably some strange pieces of pork or cow innards, anyway it was very good :-)
