Buenos Aires - Day 8

It was a perfect sunny Sunday and I had slept well and long, so I decided to go for a rather long exploration of some other quarters of this city: Recoleta and Palermo. I started at "my" quarter San Telmo, which is so lovely, although only a some streets are so nicely shaded by trees.
Then, following a part of my daily route to school, I came to Plaza de Mayo, the central square. The most famous building of the square is the Casa Rosada, the presidential palace. I'm not sure if it's one of these balconys where Evita used to speak to the peoples? Or was it only in the musical?
I was not the only one taking pictures on Plaza de Mayo this morning. In the background on the left side there is this permanent camp of ex-soldiers who fought in the Falkland Isles War and demanding something I actually don't know.
From Plaza de Mayo I took the subway, the Subte, up to Palermo district....
..with its nice and calm tree-lined streets.Well, they have a very nice shopping mall as well, "Alto Palermo Shopping", so I went inside :-)

..and bought a pair of shoes (sorry, no picture yet). Then again back to the streets and following Santa Fe street...
..I came across the botanical garden...
..and the zoo, very crowded on this Sunday.
Next stop was the monument to the Spaniards, where some kids had their fun in the water of the fountain.
Then along the Bosques the Palermo, which is a huge park area...
..with a couple of lakes.
Following the broad avenues I turned in the direction of downtown eventually. From here there were only some kilometers of walking in the glowing sun left :-)
Saw some fine looking high buildings...

..and finally sat down for a coffee brek in the shadows of the trees in front of the museo de bellas artes.
Then I stumbled over another beautiful shopping center, this one was especially spectacular, could have been in Paris as well.

And of course there is a sale going on :-)

This time I bought nothing but continued to make miles homebound...came across other interesting places and buildings.

The last two kilometers I had to go were blocked by the weekly antique market in San Telmo, but it was fun to go through it and look at all the stuff and all the people buying this stuff...

When I arrived at home, eventually, I took a very long shower. Then I was disturbed by loud music from the street. A group of people were assembling a music truck with many lights in front of my house. When they drove away a car with a camera was following, so I assume they shooted a music video or something like that.
The evening was nice, the street unusually calm..
..so I could pay full attention to the second day of the NFL wildcard games while enjoying an Argentinian beer which says on the label it was brewed after a German recipe...well, at least the name sounded German..but it was not bad and anyway perfectly chilled..
