After a really long morning and a really late and rich breakfast at home I finally left the apartment at about 5:30 pm :-)
Took the Star Ferry to Tsim Sha Tsui on the Kowloon side, plan was to see the evening light show, the 'Symphony of Lights", from the TST waterfront promenade. Every day I see from my window the TST side of it, now I wanted to see how my side performs.
Taking the ferry at this hour is a photgrapher's dream. I couldn't stop taking pictures.
Here a Star Ferry boat with the Central district in the background...
..and here the Congress Center in Wan Chai. On the left side of it, where the red Hitachi sign is, there's the Wan Chai ferry pier from which I came minutes ago.
And another look back, it looks so good :-)
And another boat, this time the International Finance Center building (IFC) and the Victoria Peak in the back.
Then, several hundred shots later, I eventually arrived at the TST ferry pier and went for an evening stroll. There was still time left, light show starts at 8pm.
While wandering around I came to the place of the former British Marine Police Headquarters. Now a fancy hotel and restaurant..and a nice park surrounded by skyscrapers. It's called Heritage 1881.
Then to the waterfront, which was already crowded with expectant tourists...like me. The view is awesome, haven't seen such a thing before. A view which one never forgets in a lifetime.
Then, as a special gift to all the photographers around, the Aqua Luna crossed the view. It's an traditional looking but modern ship for harbour cruises and charter tours. Reminds of the old Chinese Junks who crowded the Victoria Harbour for hundreds of years. Always a nice sight.
Then there was the Symphony of Lights. It was quite good. It is hard, though, to add something special to this already sparkling waterfront view, not much to take pictures of. I guess only a display of fireworks can really enhance this view significantly.
However, after most of the crowd had left I took two more pictures with a very long exposure time.
First Wan Chai again with the Congress Center...
..and once more Central with the IFC. That's it, I promise :-)
Back to Wan Chai with the Star Ferry. The evening temperature was just perfect with a very light breeze, I could have stayed on the ferry for several only to enjoy the evening.
But I had to eat. I'm not quite up to the local standard of 5 meals per day, but I'm improving. Today I felt like having Sushi. So I entered a Japanese Sushi restaurant next to the ferry pier.
These modern times: the menu was actually a tablet computer and I had to order 'online'. Was not too bad, so I hadn't any trouble with the language.
I had lots of fine fresh small things, including this Wagyu sirloin beef Nigiri, great. Every day another culinary experience.
