It was late afternoon and I took the star ferry to Tsim Sha Tsui. A colorful vending machine in the waiting area of the Wan Chai ferry pier caught my eye..didn't buy anything, though.
Plan for tonight was a visit to the famous Temple Street Night Market in Kowloon. We arrived there at about 7pm. It wasn't too crowded, just enough to be interesting :-)
They sell a lot of touristic things, it wasn't that bad actually. Mainly small electronic and fahion accessories and also tea ware.
But the most important reason to visit Temple Street Night Market is the food. There are these Dai Pai Dongs, open air food stalls. The food is very good and the atmosphere priceless. A must-go place for HK visitors.
We had several dishes, we just couldn't stop eating. First this plate with goose and pork meat..
..then some crispy fried rabbit fish...
..then fried oysters...
...and mussels in black bean sauce. We also had spicy Japanese scallops. Everything accompanied by an ice-cold Tsingtao beer. Perfect!!!!
After such an impressive dinner we felt like having a drink somewhere. So we went over to Central and headed in the direction of Hollywood Road. First we came across Lan Kwai Fong. Every travel guide mentions it as the most famous party spot where people dance on the street. Well, ok, it was crowded but there wasn't any party. It's the kind of touristic drinking spot which each capital in the world has. Rather boring to me.
Next pic is still LKF, still no party.
Eventually we ended on some more quit part of the area, next to the famous Mid-Level Escalator (no picture). We had a cold beer, sitting on stone steps outside a bar and it was good. I noticed that there were almost no Chinese people around in this area in the mid-levels.
Then back home before midnight. This is how the big roads in Central look at night.
And the MTR station looks like this at night. In the two minutes between this picture and the arrival of the train it became much more crowded. Was a nice and easy way home, though.
