I left the apartment shortly after noon. On the way to the Wan Chai ferry pier I made a short stopover at the Pacific Coffee Company for an Espresso.
Then the ferry, again, to TST. Plan for today was a visit to a couple of parks in Kowloon, visible in the far background.
But first I had to eat :-) In Diamond Hill MTR station was a ready-made Sushi to go shop. So I picked several good-looking pieces and filled a tray. Price was 3 HK$ or 30 Euro cent each, unbelievable. I loved the ones with spicy squid and other with Kimchi,
Then a short walk to Nan Lian Garden. I surprisingly good-looking green oasis in the middle of a residential area.
Attached to the Garden is a buddhist nunnery. Very impressive, I spent there most of the time, listening to the ever-repeating song they played in the background.
Made me very curious about this religion.
Then, after a long time, back to the garden. I was a very sunny day and so I appreciated the shadowy paths along the ponds and small buildings.
After the garden visit I became hungry once more. Entered the Hollywood Plaza mall and then to the food court. I had rice rolls from the Dim Sum vendor. After getting used to the rather soft texture of the rice roll outside I couldn't get enough of it, it was one of the best dishes I had here in HK so far.
Then to the next garden, the Kowloon City Walled City park. It is slightly different than the first one, but equally beautiful. It was built on the area of the former Kowloon Walled City, an infamous spot and formerly the most densely populated area of the world. See link for pictures! It is featured in a movie I saw couple of days ago: Ip Man Final Fight. Strange to be on the spot now.
Besides this awesome history the place is perfect for relaxing and enjoying Asian garden architecture.
Here's a model of the Walled City in its last days.
On my way back I saw some Lion dance competition. This is when two dancers act as a lion and perform on some small steps on columns, synchronized to some drum music. Was featured in the mentioned movie as well.
Here are the human dancers and the drummers.
Later, at home, I enjoyed a tea time with some sweet souvenirs I bought in Kowloon City. The one on the front left is a Japanese Egg Souffle Cheese Cake. Yummy.
