We encountered something strange today. When we left school for the lunch break we saw a small band gathering at the gate of Chinatown.
Some seconds later the police arrived and stopped the traffic. Now the band started to play, turned and entered Chinatown.
Some more seconds later a hearse arrived and drove into Chinatown, too.
Then, one after the other many cars followed, each marked with a red sign "FUNERAL" attached to front and rear window. I don't know if it's a chinese funeral ceremony but it looked like. I've never seen that before...
And in the same lunch break I figured out what's going on in Union Square.
There was a shopping event today, where all the shops and department strores around Union Square tried to encourage people to spend their money in this area.
But I decided not to spend my money near Union Square today. Instead I went to my school to join an international potluck party. This means everybody brings some typical food from his or her home country. For a short moment I thought about bringing some typical german food (whatever this would be), but then I decided to bring something what I like to eat. So I bought french baguette, greek stuffed olives, cherry tomatoes and italian salami.
Unfortunately I was hungry so I ate first and then I took pictures. So the table looks already very empty. But it was fun. I ate many interesting things I never heard of before from countries like korea, russia, japan and so on..
