Hongkong - Day 44

Bad idea: start a hike on Victoria Peak on a Sunday!
First the taxi to the peak had to wait in a traffic jam for about 20 minutes, then the walking was like swimming against a tsunami wave of people..we started anyway onto the first half of the Hogkong Trail..

The small hiking path made overturning difficult and we gave up after finding out that there were many more people ahead. Instead we simply inserted ourselves into the queue :-)

After a couple of kilometers most of the people went back to the Peak using a shortcut route and the trail path became very still and nice.
Another view of Aberdeen in the south of HK island.

The trails of HK are among the best I've ever set a foot on, they' re in a perfect condition and lovely taken care of. There are several picknick sites along the path and some of them have a foot massage facility.

Lot's of small spiky stone in the ground and one has to walk over it fora while with shoes pulled off. Well, it wasn't as brutal as walking on nails or glowing coal...but the difference wasn't that great either :-)

After 25km on the trail and some more along the street we came across the Happy Valley Racecourse. It was busy with people watching a live cast from the other HK racecourse in Sha Tin. It wasn't crowded that much and so we went and watched a race on the huge video screen. No bets this time :-)

Two panoramas, one of the track...

..and one of the stands.
